Basket-ball is my favorite sport, for many reasons. One being is that it's a fast pace sport. Two being it's entertaining to watch, and three being that it doesn't require a tremendous amount of skill, but it's still is a challenge. The biggest flaw to a baller's (Basket-ball player) way of scoring points, is shooting a basketball. Obtaining a perfect shooting form and motion is very essential in controlling the outcome of your game. Driving to the basket and posting up is also key, but shooting is the most manageable way to score points. Below are the key steps to becoming a talented basketball shooter.

 Step #1
The first step to getting a matchless shooting form is to get the perfect footwork. What is essential for your footwork is that your feet are shoulder-width apart. This means to have your feet directly aligned with your shoulders. Your dominant foot must be in front of the other just by a bit, and most of all you need to square up to the basket. Which means that you must face directly towards the basket.

Step #2
The second step is all about the source of power in your shot. The main source of power comes from you legs. To get that power you first need to learn to squat. To squat, just picture yourself sitting on a chair. Bend your knees until they're 90 degrees, but when your adding this to your shooting form, just bend your knees about 135 degrees. Bending your knees to 135 degrees is better because it still gives uplifting power, but also it speeds up the overall motion of your shot. Bending your legs 90 degrees causes discomfort and slows down your shot, which can lead to the opponent blocking you.

Step #3
The next step is about placing ball the correctly on the hand. To place the basketball perfectly on the hand, first get a ball and put it directly on top of the finger pads of your dominant hand( the arm you have most comfort shooting with) . When done correctly, you should be able to see a gap between the palm and the ball. Your weak hand comes to the side of the ball performing a t-like shape with the thumb of your dominant hand and the thumb of your weak hand. The point of the weak hand is to stabilize the ball on top of the dominant hand so it doesn't fall.

 Step #4
Step number four is all about the positioning of your arms when holding the basketball. The positioning of your hands is very easy. First get your dominant hand into a 90 degrees fashion. When you do this your elbows should be aligned with your knees. The next thing that's required is that you make sure that the ball is held up at about the same level as your forehead and positioned a bit more to the side of your dominant hand. you can have the ball below the fore head or above the forehead depending on what suits your comfort.

  Step #5
  1. The last and final step for a perfect shooting form, is all about the release. The release of the ball requires you put all of the steps you've learned together. You need to get those knees bent for power, and have the ball in perfect form. Once you do this you jump off with both feet and release the ball with the flick of the wrist, this should look like one motion. When the ball is released you need to follow through with your shot meaning your hand follows in the direction of the ball, not your body. When you follow through the hand is extended forward and the wrist should look as if your putting your hand into a cookie jar. This is how you perfectly release. If you're not getting this on your first try, don't worry about it all it takes is practice, this is essential to be good at anything. I hope you've enjoyed reading this procedure and it helps you to become the best basketball shooter you want to be.

Commentary

This was my only blog that is written as a procedure. It's deserves a spot on my shelf of marvelous blogs, because of it's thorough detail and it's very easy to follow steps. It's significant, because its different than other procedures as the steps can be changed by the reader.

This blog was definitely a challenge to write. When I typed it up I had to make sure that the steps were all in order and had a considerable amount of detail. The detail in the steps for the blogs are great, they make sure that the reader is able to understand the text by adding mathematics and very visual aspects that lets the reader more clearly illustrate the text. The author (me) added certain metaphors to further the reader the readers understanding of the text. One metaphor  is in Step #5, In this step the author wrote that when you flick your wrist it should look as if your sticking your hand inside of a cookie jar. This is significant because it relates a daily action (kind of daily) to another action to help the reader physically manipulate the certain procedure.

The author's procedure also includes other outcomes rather than the ones the reader expects to receive. Instead of the reader following everything that is said they can add their own ideas to help suit their comfort. An example is Step#4 when you read through it says the ball should be aligned with the forehead, but under it the author wrote that you can either put it below or above, based on what suits your comfort. This is significant because other procedures require the reader to do exactly as said, but the author chose to let them choose what ever there suited to.

The Author made sure that the steps were very detailed and easy to follow, but also he used a series of mathematics and illustrations to help simplify the text even more. The author put very specific pictures beside each step to help the reader illustrate the text, to help make it even easier to perceive. Each step had a picture beside it that did it's best job to display the step. Mathematics was used by the author because, it helped the reader to locate the step easier. An example is Step#2, the author uses angles to help display the illustration more clearly. The author writes that the knees must be bent 45 degrees, to help comfort but also add power. The angles help to improve the readers interpretation of how the certain order should be given, therefore making the procedure much more precise.

This procedure takes the top of the shelf for its admirable easy to follow steps, its considerable detail, and its initiative to let other readers be able to change the steps to their preferences.
